1. Basic Electrical Lab
This lab is based on basic electrical theories and their practical applications which comes under the subject “Basic Electrical Engineering”. First-year students from different departments do this lab. There is a total of 6 lab assignments. The major devices and equipment used in this lab are; Multimeters, R-load, L-load, C-load, AC motor, Analog, and digital ammeters/ voltmeters, Digital/ Analog Oscilloscope, Connecting leads, Wattmeter, Function Generators, etc to mention a few. Following labs are carried out:
- Measurement of Voltage, current & power in DC circuit, Verification of Ohm’s Law experimentally.
- Verification of temperature effects in Resistance experimentally.
- Verification of Kirchhoff’s Voltage & Current Laws experimentally.
- Handling of the oscilloscope to measure amplitude, frequency, and time with an oscilloscope. Also, to calculate & verify average and RMS value; to examine phase relation in RL & RC circuit
- Measurements of alternating quantities R, RL, RC circuits with AC excitation; AC power, power factor, VARs, phasor diagrams; three-phase AC circuits: To measure currents and voltages in three-phase balanced AC circuits. Also, To prove Y-∆ transformation.
- Measurement of Voltage, current& power in a three-phase circuit; two-wattmeter method of power measurement in R, RL, and RC three-phase circuits; Watts ratio curve
2. Electric Circuit Theory Lab
This lab is based on the subject “Electric Circuit Theory” which is a core subject of our second-year students. There is a total of 5 labs. They use digital oscilloscopes, function generators, etc to carry out the labs. Some of these labs are done using MATLAB. Following labs are carried out:
- Resonance in RLC series circuit
- Transient Response in first Order System passive circuits
- Transient Response in Second Order System passive circuits
- Frequency Response of first order passive circuits
- Frequency Response of second order passive circuits
